McGinley required a rostering tool to speed up worker management, fatigue calculations and more easily fill Network Rail's requirements.

The Challenge

Using existing systems that are more suited to permanent contract shifts, limiting the speed of resource managers when fulfilling shifts.

Signal was asked to provide a swift implementation to allow thousands of shifts to be imported, filled and communicated to workers and clients.

Key Solution Features

Travel Time & Working Time

Signal© calculates door to door time from the workers home location to trackside and can adapt to other accommodation addresses and hotels. Stabling points can also be used to cater for track machine operators and drivers.

Intelligent Shift Import

Signal© learns from previous import files allowing the creation of huge lists of shifts in seconds. Import shifts from tables in emails or from existing systems.

Compliance Notifications

Reduce compliance risks and meet industry requirements instantly.

Real-Time Fatigue

Signal© automatically calculates fatigue in real-time for planned and actual hours, alerting management and workers in an instant.

Actual Start & Finish Times

Capture actual finish times from workers via mobile, GPS or manual entry. Automatically Export actual data from timesheets straight to payroll.

Dashboard & Statistics

Measure all aspects of your worker activity including working time exceedances, hours worked by duty type, fatigue and risk, unfilled shifts and door to door time. Run reports on demand within a given date range or auto schedule to people in the business.

The Solution

Provide McGinley with a complete rail software platform to onboard workers, ensure their compliance, import and fill client shifts, issue client reports and complete the digital timesheet process for payroll. McGinley can also receive shifts from Network Rail's Signal system and fulfil them - automating the supply chain process.

Automatic Import from Network Rail 'COOM'

Shifts are created in Signal automatically from COOM Orders.

Automatic PDF Timesheets for the Client

After the digitally sign-off an automatic PDF timesheet format is created to comply with contractual obligations with Network Rail.

Automatic Receipting file to Network Rail

Signal automatic generates the Receipting file for agency staff, automatically separating Service Correction Orders and providing the correct format. Controls are provided for the agency to ensure the correct actual hours, PO number, PO line number and billing hours are provided.

McGinley benefit from Minimum Billing Hours and Pay and Charge Rates
